Five Roses of Hyrule:
Chapter one: one is the loneliest number…
“ Hey… Link… wake up! Quickly, you have to go patrol the Hyrulian gates!’ the maid shouted from the staircase.  Green sat up and yawned. It was a week after Green put the four sword back in the shrine. He was hit pretty hard, after months of having three allies fighting alongside him. They were Blue, Red, Vio, and if you had counted him (after helping them defeat Guufu), Shadow. He missed them a lot, and would have given anything to be with them again. He got up out of bed, got dressed into his tunic, grabbed his hat, walked into the bathroom and started to brush his cow- licked hair.
“Hurry up, Link!” his father shouted. “It can’t be left unguarded!” his dad shouted.
Green quickly put on his shoes and rushed downstairs, hat crooked and hair messy.
“ Happy birthday, my dear boy!” His dad, the general, ran up to him and gave him a warm hug.
“Yeah,” Green thought with an excited look on his face, “Happy birthday to me!”
He ran outside the gates of Hyrule, swinging his sword around. “ It’s my birthday! Here today, I’m celebrating!” he sang, “All… by myself….” He stopped running around.  There was a long pause. He looked to the ground and started crying. He didn’t cry much, always trying to find a way out of showing people his emotions. He looked down at his shadow, and kept on crying.
---------------------------------------------------------------

“Even after all the bad things I did… I can still travel up and be part of the light… I feel so good inside…” Shadow said to himself, walking down a long corridor lit with candles.
Suddenly, he felt a loose stone in the floor. “Something’s wrong…” he thought. Some of the stones came loose, and he heard a familiar voice call to him. “Foolish child… you think you can escape from me?”
“No… I didn’t want this from the beginning…” More stones came loose and fell into a pit of darkness as Shadow spoke.
“ For your actions, you will be encloacked in darkness for all eternity!” the voice shouted as all of the stones came loose, sending Shadow falling into the darkness.  “Please! Don’t send me back there! NOO!” Shadow pleaded as he fell into the darkness, tears floating from his eyes.
-----------------------------------------------------

Green leaned up against a nearby tree and dried his eyes. He sighed, stood up, and looked up to the sky. “Don’t worry, guys, I’ll get you back!” He ran to the four-sword shrine, thinking, “That’s my only wish… to have us be four again!”
As he approached it, he heard a screech come from the shrine temple. Thinking the worst, Green ran into the temple, unprepared of what was going to happen.
When he reached the inner shrine, he saw him.  Guufu had escaped once again, and was about to destroy the four sword. “It’s my only chance… I won’t let him kill my friends!” he thought, springing off the floor, somersaulting in the air, and pulling out the four sword just as Guufu’s tentacle smashed down on the shrine, crushing it. Green skidded onto the ground and shut his eyes tightly as a bright light glowed from the sword. After a few moments, he heard a person speaking.  “Oops… that isn’t good… I wonder how much it’ll cost to replace it….  All I know is that I won’t be paying for it…” A familiar voice smirked behind him. Green turned around to see Vio and the rest smiling at him.  Without thinking, he glomped Vio.  Vio laughed as the rest of the Links joined in the dogpile.
“ Uhh, I don’t mean to kill the moment, but… CAN’T WE HUG EACH OTHER TO DEATH AFTER WE DEFEAT THIS THING!?!” Blue shouted as he dodged several tentacles.
“Oh, right…” The Links said together as they jumped into battle.

--------------------------------------------------------

Shadow woke up and saw that he was in a bright field with flowers and grass. It stretched as far as he could see.  He blinked again ad realized that he was leaning up against a wall, the only shade for miles.
“Hey. Shadow.” A voice smirked in front of him. Shadow looked up and saw that it was Red, with his sword drawn and touching Shadows’ neck.
“ Red! What are you doing here?” the rest of the Links walked to either side of Red and drew out there swords.
“ Why don’t you just leave us alone! You’ve caused enough trouble in our lives.” Green shouted at Shadow as he pointed his sword at him.
Shadow was shocked. “What do you mean?”
“Its bad enough that you have to follow us around…” Blue remarked as he pointed his sword at Shadow.
“You don’t need to exist with us. We have no use for you, Shadow. So why don’t you just----” Vio smirked, pressing His sword to Shadow’s chest.  A trickle of dark blood ran down Shadows’ tunic. He felt the wall and some of the ground behind it collapse into a blackened pit.  The sunlight hit him as Shadow cried out in pain.
“ Drop dead!” The links laughed as they pushed him down into the pit.
Shadow fell down, paralyzed from the sunlight, tears falling from his eyes.
--------------------------------------------------------

“ Hyahh!!”  Blue hollered as he cut off another tentacle.
“Its no use, they keep on growing back!” Green shouted, dodging several more tentacles.
“Think, you guys! How did we defeat him before?” Vio called out to the others, shooting arrows at the monsters’ eye.
Red’s head perked up. “I got it! We had to destroy his power source!”
“But there isn’t one now! Unless…” Vio looked around the chamber, and saw a small imp carrying a mirror, cackling to itself.
“Take this!” Vio shouted as he shot an arrow into the mirror.
The mirror shattered into a thousand shards as Guufu and the imp disappeared.
“ Foes sure are desperate these days…” blue smirked as he withdrew his sword.
----------------------------------------------------------
When they got out of the temple, they all headed back to the Hyrulian castle.
“Remember, guys… we can’t tell princess Zelda what happened.” Green said to the others.
“Why not? It wasn’t our fault. Besides, if you didn’t pull out that sword when you did, who knows what could’ve happened.” Vio reassured Green.
“No, that isn’t it. She has enough problems to deal with already, and we already defeated Guufu, so why does she need to know?” Green expliained as he headed up to the house.
“Well, don’t you think that it will be a little hard to explain why we’re four again?” Blue remarked.
“That’s why only I can speak to her.” Green informed. “Do you want to be apart again? She’ll just tell us to go and put the sword back. Not to mention there isn't anything to put the sword back into.”
“I guess if you look at it that way… but I’d hate to lie to Zelda…”Red replied. “ But we can’t lie to your dad. How are we going to get past him? Won’t he just tell Zelda?”
“ You’re all forgetting that its my--- our birthday today. We can have whatever we please… including keeping a secret from Zelda. Well, guys? What do you say?”
“Yeah!” the Links shouted together.

And that’s the end of my chapter.
